Please tell us of any educational needs we might need to know about, e.g. ADHD, dyslexia

Please tell us the school your young writer will be in from September 2026.

Is this child eligible for benefits related Free School meals?
We are asked to provide this information by our funders. We will need to know the answer if you ask us for a free (bursary) place.

Please explain why your young writer is eligible for a free bursary place on the programme. This might include:

  • The child is in receipt of free school meals
  • The child's family is in receipt of universal credit or similar

In order to receive a bursary, you must be living or studying in the West Midlands region.

Our bursary fund allows children in need to access free places on our programme, to ensure that we remain accessible to all.

Please provide the name of individuals authorised to collect your child.

Occasionally, we will ask a photographer to visit a group to take pictures of the session which we or our venue partners will then use on social media and other publicity. Our Lead and Assistant Writers may do the same on our behalf to capture moments within the sessions. These will never have a child’s name attached to them. If your child is under a child protection order, please indicate No below.

Do you give us permission to take photos, videos, or voice recordings for us and our venue partners to use in marketing material, and on our website and social media? We may make a video or podcast featuring your child as a way to remember a fun activity.

Very occasionally our group may also be visited by the media who will take photographs or film footage of a visiting dignitary or other high profile event. Group members may appear in these images, which may appear in newspapers, or even on TV news programmes. Please note that the press are exempt from the Data Protection Act and may want to include the names and personal details of children in the media.

Do you give consent for your child leave the session unaccompanied?

  • For children in Years 3-6, we normally expect a parent or guardian to drop them off and collect them at each session. However, if you are happy for your child to attend and leave unaccompanied, please indicate this above.
  • For young people in Years 7-11, they may attend and leave sessions unaccompanied. If you would prefer to drop off and collect your child, please indicate this above.

Are you happy for your child to take part in visits within the venue? e.g to look at an exhibition in the venue or visit the archive.

We expect everyone associated with our activities to behave responsibly. We will alert you if we have any cause for concern and we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently exclude anyone whose behaviour is unacceptable. We do not tolerate any form of offensive behaviour.

You can find the child protection policy and code of conduct that the writers have signed here.
